Hot Lady!

On my birthday, Mr. Wonderful came home with a dozen roses for me. It turned out, these particular roses are called Hot Lady. I thought they were appropriate for me because, well, I'm hot ninety percent of each day. But, I'm sure the name refers to the "hot" pink color. Anyway, these roses were the inspiration for my tablescape.

I hope you enjoy!

I bought these placemats for the reverse side which is black and white polka dot. Who knew I would use the pink side first!

I decided to mix contemporary dishes, stemware, and flatware, with traditional lead crystal candlesticks. I think the roses pull it all together.

Perfect setting for my glass bird.

The colors changed as the sun started to go down.

Ever have one rose that goes limp before the others? Don't throw it out--you can use the petals, like I did here! They should last through dinner before drying up.

Take away two place settings, and you have a romantic Valentine's Day dinner!

Stemware, white plates, glass bird, and candlesticks are from Goodwill
Napkins and black plates are from World Market
Flatware is from Burlington Coat Factory
White bowls are from Big Lots
Placemats are from Ross

Beautiful table, Elaine. Thankfully I am past that stage of being hot 90% of the time. I love the stemware.

Oh my! That table is so pretty. Those placemats were the perfect ones to compliment the roses. Wow!

I think those placemats and the roses were meant for each other! That's a great tip about the roses. I usually cut the limp one very short and float it. It usually revives enough for that. Your table is so elegant and so romantic! Linda

Well, Happy Belated Birthday! What a nice gift from your husband! I'm SURE he bought hot pink Hot Lady roses because you're a hot chick...and not in the "flashes" way! :-) (Isn't that wild that we get to a point in our lives that when we describe ourselves as "hot" that's what we're referring to??!?!?!!) :-) Hubby's choice goes so perfectly with your placemats, and you just pulled the whole look together! I love the napkin!!! Well done, darlin'! (Did J.R. Ewing just take over my body??!?!?!) Have a great weekend! :-)

What wonderful inspiration those roses were! I loved your interpretation of "Hot Lady"! The pink and black table show the roses off to perfection. Can't wait to see the other side of the placemats on a future table!

These roses are beautiful, and look so special on your table. I love the color. I wish I had a rose bush in my back yard in this same color. Your table is very nice, and I love the furniture. Happy Monday.
