An Un-Holiday Table!

I knew Valentine's Day was not my favorite holiday. But, a few weeks ago, I turned to go down the seasonal aisle at my grocery store, and I actually shuddered at the sight of all the red and pink Valentine items. Someday, I'll figure out where that comes from. And, I've never celebrated Mardi Gras, though I have been known to give up chocolate for Lent. So, here is a plain old ordinary tablescape. The inspiration came from the napkins, which were purchased on clearance at Target.

I hope you enjoy!

I love to mix up contemporary and traditional
styles, as seen with my dish choices.

The brown goblets didn't show up well in the
photos, so I added the second glasses.

I like the unusual color combination in the napkins.

I decided to use these birds for some sparkle.

Time to light the candles!

Bowls, crystal glasses, candlesticks and candles are from Ross
Square plates and brown glasses came from Goodwill
Woven chargers came from Z Galleries
Napkin rings from Tuesday Morning

Elaine - I can see why you wanted to use those napkins for your inspiration. They are wonderful. Love the way that you mixed up the china and added the birds for a little sparkle. I cannot avoid Valentine's Day - it is my husband's birthday!!

Gorgeous table, Elaine! I think those bowls are so pretty with the reticulated edges. I very seldom see square plates at thrift stores.

Dang, I never find anything at Goodwill! Those brown goblets are great! You've designed quite the sophisticated non-holiday tablescape. I could picture this in a really upscale, metro chic bistro in New York. Nice work! Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

Elaine, You are just too funny with the red and pink ... I do know what you mean though!! I think those little love birdies are your nod to Valentine's Day! And those napkins are pulling on some memory in my brain, but I can't quite recall it! I love them! Linda
