A Yen for Zen!

It was pretty windy today, so I decided to move the outdoor table I had planned to next week. This gave me the perfect opportunity to set a table I have had in my head for months! It all started with these placemats I found at Target.

I hope you enjoy!

The wall color in my kitchen helped this table from being too blah!

These glasses came from Goodwill!

I fell in love with this fabric, and knew it would be perfect for napkins!

Thank you so much for visiting!

Large plates and napkin rings from Goodwill
Small plates from World Market
Bowls from Big Lots
Orchid from Ross
Chopsticks were a gift
Picasso print from Bed Bath & Beyond
Candles from Partylite

The repetitive use of negative space/positive space is vital in this very sophisticated tables cape that you have designed. I think that this is my favorite to date! Can't believe that you found those great goblets at GW. Our GW is pretty awful. I've gone several times and left quickly. Love the lifted orchids against the vertical design in your art work....very effective! Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

I'm more relaxed already! You really captured the Zen. I can't believe the good luck you have at GW. I went to 2 yesterday and walked out with nothing! I love the use of rocks and of course those great chopsticks.

Yes, yes, yes!!!! I love it! I don't know why tables with an Oriental flair attract me so, but they do. I think because I love to eat and treat it as a zen experience! :-) This has such a wonderful soothing quality about it. And you got those stems at Goodwill?!??!?!!! GREAT find! Really pretty chopsticks, too. The design is so unique! I'm so accustomed to those plain wooden things we get at the Chinese takeout place. They'll never seem right to me again! :-) Have a good weekend, Elaine!

Ooh I love the fabrics! What a great combo you created! The square plates and bowl are displayed so attractively! The chopsticks really add the perfect touch and I like how you did the candles seated on the stones! The orchid is just enough and looks lovely!

I love the Asian theme you have going here...very serene and pretty. I love those place mats from Target, too, they would make a perfect backdrop for so many colors! Neat napkin rings, too!

Have a wonderful day! :)

Hi Elaine!

What a wonderful tablesetting.
It has a serene zen like quality and the colors are perfect. The orange accent wall gives it just enough punch.

Thanks for sharing at my party this week :)

Love this table, since I have always loved black and brown together. I know it is such a small thing, but the tiny detail on the chopsticks is wonderful! I have been looking for some black goblets for a while - yours are great and what a find!
