Parade of Tablescapes!

Since I have been taking a break from tablescaping (you can't tablescape from a hammock!) for a few weeks, I thought I'd show more tablescapes done by other designers in my area. I guess there are some home parades in other states that don't allow photos to be taken. Thank goodness, we don't have that rule! I love nothing more than stealing borrowing new ideas in decorating!

NOTE: I need to mention that these photos are not my best. Even though it was a very sunny day, most rooms photographed very dark. In lightening them up for you to see, some quality was definitely lost.

I hope you enjoy!

Here is the first dining room I'll share with you. Very pretty shades of tans and creams with touches of purple.

I LOVE this mirror and horse!

Here is another one done in very soft colors--mostly golds and tans with a touch of blue.

How cute are these tassles? My cats would just LOVE them!

Never saw stemware inside bowls with the napkins. Must be a story here.

Now, onto some other rooms I fell in love with! I think this kitchen is so cheerful, and is probably the only bright one I saw.

This one is in a million dollar plus home.

I am just certain my cooking skills would improve if I had a stove like this!

LOVE the fireplace wall and the huge windows!

This is the master bedroom in the same house. Looks like a few kids jumped on the bed. I had to resist fixing it! I'm a stager, remember!

Wonderful mountain view from the tub!

Very eclectic combination of tropical bedding with a snowboard bed!

I've seen many picket fence headboards...

...but, not so many trees and park benches in a bedroom!

I loved EVERYTHING about this nursery, from the wall treatment to the polka dots to the owls!

So sweet!

Tour is over! I'll be back to my own tablescapes very soon!

Daughter's Apartment-Project Two!

This is the second in a series of projects I am doing for my daughter's apartment! Last week, in case you missed it, I made pillows for her sofa and love seat. If you would like to see it, there will be a link at the end of this post.

Thank you for joining me on this decorating adventure!

I decided to look for a hall tree for her entry. Originally, I wanted a wooden one with a bench, but they were too wide for the space. I found a wrought iron one on craigslist (bought from Pier One) and it was just the right size (and a lot cheaper).

As you can see, it doesn't have a cushion, so I decided to make one. I am not even close to being a DIY expert, so I checked out a few blogs and videos on how to make a cushion. The one that helped me the most was sewwoodsy. Here is what the project looked like when I got started.

Fabric (facing down), batting, foam, and plywood.

Now, I am really good at taking something simple and making it difficult. This project was no exception. I decided to add tufting...and fabric covered buttons.

After I pushed the needle through the wood and other layers, I went through the button and back through the wood. I gently pulled, and stapled the string down.

It was worth the trouble! Isn't it cute?

I got to use my new stapler which I bought years ago but never used. I really gave it a workout!

Here is the finished cushion!

If you want to see it on the bench, you will have to wait for the final reveal of my daughter's apartment!

Cost for this cushion project: less than $20!

A Parade of Purple!

One of my favorite summer events is the Parade of Homes. For me, it's a wonderful source of design ideas and I always take my camera. I really love purple, and I especially love it paired with green. Imagine my delight, when the very first home we toured was ALL purple and green!

I always like to start in the dining room to see the tablescape the designer put together.

I thought this dark dining room set was perfect for a punch of purple. I wouldn't mind owning a set of those green croc placemats!

I LOVE this simple but stunning centerpiece!

The only negative are the limp napkins!

The dining room opened up into a gorgeous and HUGE kitchen!

Isn't this eating area unique?

I love the pillows!

This photo really shows how big this kitchen was. I am crazy about the clean lines of those bar chairs!

This was one wall of the adjacent family room. Extra seating ready to be pulled out.

More gorgeous pillows!

This room was at the top of the stairs. The parade homes had a lot of fun paint treatments!

The guest room.

I LOVE this painting!

Here is a girl's room. Isn't it fun?

Interesting window treatment!

The master bedroom. My heart actually fluttered!

LOVE this table!

Subtle touches of purple in the master bath.

I hope you enjoyed this home as much as I did!
